Hello everybody. I don't really want to make this post very long, so I'm sorry if I don't tell a crazy good story. We will see how it goes. Anyway, so today I had to wake up and head to the field because my passport was arriving! I had to be at the field by 10:30 am, or so the UPS online tracking system told me. The fun of it all was that my roommate was sleeping, and I don't really know how to drive manual. I went for it anyway, what better way to learn then to throw yourself in the fire.
I got in the car, put it in reverse, and stalled. I successfully backed out of the spot, but trying to get into first gear was a problem. I stalled about 5-7 more times, until I finally got frustrated. I clearly wasn't giving it enough gas, so I looked at the street, saw nobody coming, and pretty much floored it. It worked, and I was on my way. I made sure not to make any full stops so I didn't have to go into first gear again.
I made it successfully to the field, only to find out that it had already been delivered and signed for. I was happy it arrived, and got back in the car to get home. Again, after a couple initial stalls and a couple of laps around the fields parking lot, I got back to the apartment safely.
After I got back, my roommate Chris and I were picked up by Taka. We got a quick lunch, some ice cream, and then decided to head to the outlets (yes they have outlets). I didn't buy anything, mostly because my European style doesn't exist. They love skinny jeans and tight shirts with a lot of stuff on them. I told Taka I may change my style a little bit, but skinny jeans will never happen.
After the outlets, we went back to the apartment and got ready for practice. Today was pay day! After practice, we showered, got paid, and left. I decided I needed a little taste of America, so I brought up the option to go to McDonalds for dinner. My two roommates agreed, and we ventured off to McDonalds.
The McDonalds here are great, not because the food is different or of higher quality, but because they have beer of tap! Yes, they do. The only different food option is the McItalia. I found it to be hilarious. Either way, we got back, ate our McDonalds, and satisfied my American fix. Is it sad that it needed to be satisfied by fast food? Probably, but who cares right?
This weekend we are playing in Rome. I'll be up bright and early Saturday morning, so I don't know if there will be a post for the next couple of days. We leave Reggio at 6:30 am and bus down to Rome. Should take about 6 hours. We then play two games, and come back the same night. I will most likely get back by 3 to 4 am.
I would also like to make a note on the people here in Italy. Everywhere I go, I have noticed more and more that everybody here is goodlooking. They care very much about their appearance, and all dress to impress. The guys are always well put together, and the girls are beautiful. Not saying anything about the States of course, but everybody is very fit. I have gotten some comments about the blog, mostly people saying that I should be fat with the amount we eat here. Truth is, I'm actually losing weight. All the food here is natural (except McDonalds), and of the highest quality. What's left out is all the preservatives, steriods, and whatever other crap there is. It really is amazing how all these people intake a ton of carbs, yet are all very skinny. And they barely work out!
Well I guess it went a little longer than I had anticipated. I hope everybody is having a great week and enjoying reading the blog. I do appreciate everybodys support of the blog and all the compliments (except for my sister, who is very jealous). Oh, and on a side note, I start school on Monday. Yes, me and my roommate Chris are starting Italian classes at the local high school, free of charges thanks to Palfinger Italia. It's only Monday and Tuesday, but should help with talking to my teammates and the girls!
Have a great day and I'll be keeping you posted! Goodnight.
Hope your having a wonderful time and enjoying every minute! I thoroughly appreciated the McDonald's in Italy! I like! Be Safe and have fun! You deserve it! -Liz R.
